Edinburgh Hotsctots 2-1 Lions
After a long Journey to Scotland, it was the Lions who met defeat to a well organised Hotscots team.
Both teams were subject to some overzealous and outright bizarre refereeing, but neither were deterred and put in a great fight to come away with a win.
In a game of two contrasting halves, the Lions had the stronger showing in the first.
With the first chance coming from Robbie’s long range cross / shot that needed to be palmed away from goal by the Hotscots keeper.
”It just wasn’t our day. We worked hard and put the effort in, they [the opposition] just made the most of a couple of chances they had…’Andrew T | Nottingham Lions Chairman
Lions continued to apply pressure with a whipped cross from James almost falling to Sean M.
A corner met by Brett needing a strong hand and a long range shot from Robbie drawing another top notch save from the goalkeeper.
Hotscots began to probe with some early crosses but to no avail. However, the first blow to the Lions came from an Injury to Robbie, who had put on a brilliant showing, in the 29th minute with Callum C coming on to replace.
More early crosses continued with HotScots unable to capitalise. Pij and Brett kept the centre clear with some great, assertive tackles, nullifying any and all attacking intent from the HotScots team during the first half.
But Lions also were piling on pressure, with a Shaun L header needing a clearance of the line by the opposition.
Shortly thereafter, the HotScots team should have scored after some beautiful play pulled Liam into a 50/50, in which the Hotscots passed into space for an open goal but a superb goal line clearance by Pij ultimately saved the Lions and kept the score level.

With the second-half underway, it was a complete contrast to the first, with the chances now falling more equally to both teams.
It was the Hotscots who got the first clear cut chance who drew a fantastic save from Liam.
But the first goal came from the Lions, with Shaun L putting James H through after a defensive error. James H calmly collects the ball and slots it into the bottom left corner to make the game 1-0 to the Lions in the 55th minute.
This jubilation lasted for 7 minutes before Hotscots hit back with a scrappy goal leading to a simple tap-in to make it 1-1.
It was was now end-to-end with each team showing attacking intent but neither team were able to find that final piece of quality.
A mix of intelligent interplay from the HotScots saw their defender pick up on a pass, which carved open the Lions defence leading to a well taken goal to give the Scots the lead.
Lions pressed and created chances but couldn’t find a way through to get the goal back.

Both teams should walk away heads held high after an incredibly difficult game.
Every player put in complete shifts and it was the Lions who sadly fell short on this occasion.
An outstanding effort from both teams in challenging circumstances. A shout-out goes to both Pij & Brett, who between them kept the Lions in the game with amazing tackles and goal-line clearances. Fantastic performances from the pair of them.
