To start off the New Year, the Lion’s look back to their successful charity match in December, which aimed to raise money for local charity Outburst. Outburst is a charity group that aims to provide 11-19 years olds within the Nottinghamshire area a safe space, free from prejudice and expose them to people within the LGBTQ+ and wider community.

The Lions welcomed back veterans to take part in the ‘Youngies vs Oldies’ style match. The oldies fielded a strong team with a lot of experience throughout, which proved too much for the younger side’s speed and endurance, with the scoreline finishing 6-0. The score however was not the main focus at the end of the match. This was a match aiming to raise money for a worthwhile charity and this would be the last time the Lions play together in 2018. The Lions raised a total of £160 for Outburst, which will help them to provide activities for the young people in their endeavour to help them accept and appreciate who they are.

This year, the club look to further build a safe, sporting environment for people both in the LGBTQ+ and wider communities in the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire area. Please feel free to follow their progress throughout the year on this website, which has regular updated posts and match results.
